At Usel, we are passionate about empowering people with disabilities or health conditions to achieve their employment goals. Our organisation is a social enterprise born out of a desire to make a difference in the lives of thousands of local people across Northern Ireland. Our vision is to be the leading provider of disability employment services, supporting individuals to gain employment and reach their full potential.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of employment programmes designed to support individuals with disabilities or health conditions to enter and progress within the workforce. Our highly experienced and qualified team provides a range of supports and assistance to help programme participants overcome barriers to employment. Our programmes include:

• Empower: A new employment support programme designed for adults living with a disability, long-term health condition, or identifying as autistic or neurodivergent.
• Step Up: A programme aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities or health conditions into employment, providing guidance on job searching, CV creation, and interview skills.
• JobStart: A programme focused on helping individuals get into employment, providing support with job searching, interview preparation, and job retention.
• Workable NI: A programme designed to support individuals with disabilities or health conditions into employment, providing guidance on job searching, CV creation, and interview skills.
• Skills for Life and Work: A programme aimed at supporting individuals develop new skills and gain the confidence to get into the workplace.

Our Social Enterprises

At Usel, we are committed to social enterprise, with a range of initiatives designed to provide employment opportunities and promote sustainability. Our social enterprises include:

• Ability Cafe: Providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities or health conditions in the hospitality industry.
• U Shred NI: Northern Ireland's only social enterprise providing document and hardware solutions, operating a Circular Economy business model through the recycling of mattresses, carpet, furniture, plastic, cardboard, and waste electrical items.
• Usel Recycling Solutions: A social enterprise providing recycling and waste management solutions.
• Usel Fulfilment Works: A social enterprise operating a customised sewing service specialising in bespoke bags and storage solutions.
• Smartpac: A social enterprise providing customised packaging solutions.
